Fran Edwards
Lower Elementary Assistant Teacher
My journey to Acorn School began when a close friend suggested it would be a perfect fit. I initially joined Acorn in a part-time office role, where I quickly fell in love with the warm, supportive community. That role soon expanded to include substituting across campus, allowing me to experience the Montessori environment firsthand and deepen my connection and passion for to the philosophy. I came to feel truly at home at Acorn and deeply connected to the method of fostering independence and a lifelong love of learning. I especially love being with the children and watching them grow in confidence and independence, and I find that I am learning right alongside them every day. For me, Acorn is more than a workplace; it is a family, and the collaborative, caring spirit among the staff creates an environment where everyone can thrive. Outside of school, I cherish time spent with family and friends and enjoy hiking, camping, and connecting with nature. A Montessori quote I love is, “The child has a mind able to absorb knowledge. He has the power to teach himself.” because it reflects how capable children truly are, and how much we can learn from them, too!
